A sample of the material presented in the book to come, tentatively titled Marriage, For Equals: The Successful Joint (Ad)ventures of Well-Educated Couples

• How books like The Rules and other "catch a mate" books have set up a boom and bust phenomenon in the marriage market

• How the data of more than 1200 women suggests that the best-seller "Platinum" "Book of the year" Love and Respect was based on inappropriate over-generalizations and faulty assumptions

• Why the 50% divorce rate may have nothing at all to do with your own chances of sustaining a healthy marriage – your chances may be much higher, or much lower, depending on a number of factors that I describe

• The implications of notable similarities between the state of falling in love and the clinically debilitating condition we refer to as Obsessive Compulsive Disorder

• How anyone who would help you find "The One" or your "Soul Mate" or who would assist you in sealing the deal within a short time frame is giving you very foolish advice

• Why you should get into some meaty fights before you even consider marrying someone

• And finally, why the best marriages are happening now, despite "chicken little" proclamations about the escalating divorce rate

The target date range for publication is Winter 2011 or early Spring 2012.

Early Reviews

"With a combination of research, clinical insight, and plain good sense, author Shauna Springer sorts out the state of romantic love today, bursting more than a few myths in the process. For anyone confused about intimate relationships, this book offers a clear, highly readable, and entertaining road map."

--Dr. Benjamin Karney, Professor of Psychology, UCLA

"A fresh look at love and marriage, stripping away the fantasies and revealing the realities, this book should be read by every person who is (or hopes to be) in love and/or married. While grounded in research, the concepts are presented in common sense terms and are presented in a way that is both entertaining and enlightening. I wholeheartedly recommend it."
